PIT Symposium 2025

#Resilience4Life – Find your Awe

This year’s Professionals in Training (PIT) Symposium, held in October, brought together Exxaro’s young professionals under the theme #Resilience4Life – Find your Awe. The event celebrated innovation, growth, and the power of perseverance, with PITs showcasing projects that reflected Exxaro’s purpose of Powering Better Lives in Africa and Beyond.

Meet the 2025 Winners

1st place:
Wanga Ngobeni, PIT Mining Engineering (Matla)

“I am very excited to be this year’s overall winner. For me, success, much like mining, requires going deeper, pushing through challenges with resilience, teamwork and a passion for excellence. I can truly say I found my awe in this moment. I am deeply grateful to Exxaro for the opportunity, support, and empowerment that made this achievement possible.”

2nd place:
Talia Ndlovu, PIT Civil Engineering (Belfast)

“I feel incredibly proud of what I have achieved, from conceiving the idea to driving it to victory and now ensuring its execution. As engineers, moments like these are more than just wins; they are proof of how we create real impact at Exxaro. I believe I represented my people the best way I could.”

3rd place (tie):
Jabulile Sibeko, PIT Metallurgical Engineering (Belfast)

“Enhancing RB3 Throughput Efficiency was a challenging but rewarding experience. Standing among the top achievers is humbling and it reminds me that resilience, teamwork, and consistency always pay off.”

3rd place (tie):
Moeti Rasefate, PIT Geology (Leeuwpan)

“I feel so grateful to be recognised as one of the Top 3 presenters at this year’s PIT Symposium. Sharing my project and seeing the audience connect with me and my topic really carried me through. More than the joy and excitement of winning, I feel gratitude for the journey, the lessons and the amazing people who made it possible.”

Wanga’s win also marks a milestone for Matla Mine, which takes the top spot at the PIT Symposium for the third consecutive year.

The symposium closed with a reminder that resilience and awe fuel growth, and that every challenge is an opportunity to power possibility.
