FUNN@WORK brings Exxaro's culture to life

Pride Month and Slipper Day brought colleagues together through FUNN@WORK across Exxaro.

At Exxaro, culture belongs to everyone. As part of our culture journey, FUNN@WORK was introduced to strengthen connections, build resilience, and bring our aspirational culture to life through meaningful shared experiences.

FUNN@WORK helps foster collaboration, inclusivity, psychological safety, and a strong sense of belonging. Throughout recent months, colleagues across our business have come together through a variety of FUNN@WORK initiatives that celebrate diversity, community impact, and shared experiences.

Celebrating inclusion and belonging

In recognition of Pride Month, Exxaro hosted LGBTQIA+ awareness activations. On 25 June, employees gathered at the conneXXion for a FUNN@WORK Pride activation themed "Inclusion Starts with Belonging." The event featured an Inclusion and Belonging Pledge Wall, photo opportunities, cupcakes, and a "Debunk the Stereotype" quiz, encouraging employees to reflect on the importance of creating an inclusive workplace where everyone feels seen, valued, and respected.

Delivering a message on behalf of CEO Ben Magara, Head of Coal Caroline Shirindza highlighted the importance of belonging in building a high-performing organisation, emphasising that every employee should feel respected, valued, and able to contribute.

At Matla, LGBTQIA+ gate activations were hosted at mine entrances, creating awareness and encouraging meaningful conversations around inclusion and respect. Through educational messaging and employee engagement, the activations reinforced Exxaro's commitment to creating a safe and welcoming environment where everyone can be their authentic selves.

Together, these initiatives demonstrated Exxaro's commitment to our Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEI&B) ambition of One Exxaro for All, where diversity is celebrated and everyone has a sense of belonging.
