Building on the success of our inaugural Supplier Ethics Day in 2025 hosted at the conneXXion, Grootegeluk’s Supplier Ethics Day brought together suppliers, contractors, business partners and employees under the theme “Ethical Partnerships for Lasting Impact”. More than a governance event, it created an opportunity for open dialogue about the values and behaviours that shape trusted partnerships and lead to sustainable business success.

Opening the event, Grootegeluk General Manager, Musa Mabasa, reflected on Exxaro’s 20-year journey of Impact Beyond the Surface. While operational performance, innovation and growth have driven the business forward, he reminded attendees that lasting success has also been built on trusted relationships across Exxaro’s value chain. Building on this foundation, Exxaro CEO, Ben Magara, emphasised that ethical conduct has been fundamental to Exxaro’s success and will remain essential to the future the company is building.

That message carried through the rest of the programme. Chief Ethics Officer, Lindo Sibiya, challenged attendees to think beyond compliance and embrace ethics as a personal leadership responsibility. Her session flowed into a panel discussion with leaders from Supply Chain Management, Internal Audit and Assurance, and Compliance, exploring ethical procurement, supplier due diligence, conflict of interest management, fraud prevention and the role every employee plays in protecting the integrity of Exxaro’s procurement processes.

The event concluded with Exxaro leaders and suppliers signing a shared ethics pledge: a powerful symbol of their collective commitment to integrity, accountability and doing the right thing, even when no one is watching.

You can help strengthen Exxaro’s culture of integrity by:

  • Declaring actual, potential or perceived conflicts of interest.
  • Protecting company information and using it responsibly.
  • Speaking up when something doesn’t feel right.
  • Following our policies, processes and governance requirements.
  • Treating colleagues, suppliers and stakeholders with fairness and respect.

Why this matters: Integrity isn’t only demonstrated in big decisions. It’s built through the everyday choices each of us makes. Every action helps strengthen trust, protect Exxaro’s reputation and create lasting impact.

Ethical procurement is not simply about compliance. It is about building confidence in our processes, strengthening trust across our value chain and creating the conditions for sustainable growth and long-term value creation.”
