Celebrating a legacy of service and impact

After more than two decades of service, Mongezi Veti leaves a lasting legacy at Exxaro.

Some careers are measured in years. Others are measured by the people they influence and the difference they leave behind. After more than two decades of dedicated service, Exxaro honoured Mongezi Veti, Executive Head: Sustainability, at two special farewell events: a leadership tribute in June and a celebration with the Sustainability team in July. Together, they recognised a leader whose influence helped shape our strategy, culture and future.

From his early years in mining operations to his role as an executive leader, Mongezi became known for leading with integrity, humility and purpose. Throughout his career, he played an important role in advancing Exxaro’s commitment to responsible mining and embedding sustainability into the way we create value for our people, communities, shareholders and the environment.

One of Mongezi’s greatest contributions was his commitment to safety. He championed the belief that every incident is preventable and that every person has both the right and responsibility to work safely. His leadership encouraged people to speak up, strengthened our safety culture and reminded us that looking after one another is everyone’s responsibility.

Those who worked alongside Mongezi will remember more than the roles he held. They’ll remember a leader who invested in people, built confidence and created opportunities for others to grow. His influence lives on in the people he mentored, the culture he helped shape and the example he set for those who follow.
