Mangaliso Sethethi, General Manager of Matla Mine, was formally inaugurated as President of the South African Colliery Managers’ Association (SACMA), one of the coal industry’s most influential leadership platforms within South Africa’s mining sector.

SACMA represents colliery managers and senior coal mining leaders across South Africa and plays an important role in strengthening safety standards, operational practices and industry collaboration. The platform also helps to shape responsible industry dialogue while aligning leaders around shared operational and safety challenges.

Mangaliso’s appointment reflects both the professional respect he has earned across the sector and the depth of leadership within Exxaro’s coal operations. His journey from Professional in Training (PIT) at Exxaro to leading Matla Mine also highlights the strength of our talent pipeline and commitment to developing future leaders from within.
