Exxaro riders shine at Cape Epic
The 2026 Absa Cape Epic showcased how opportunity, resilience and development continue to create lasting impact.
The Absa Cape Epic once again delivered eight days of endurance racing across the rugged terrain of the Western Cape, testing resilience, teamwork and mental strength at the highest level. For the past 13 years, Exxaro has proudly partnered with the event as the Official Development Partner, helping create pathways for emerging riders to compete and grow on one of the sport’s biggest stages.
This year’s Exxaro Development Jersey riders delivered standout performances across both the men’s and women’s categories. Tsholofelo Nkosi and Bontle Phepiso successfully defended their 2025 title to secure back-to-back victories in the Women’s Exxaro Jersey category, while Ethan Michaels and Damon Terblanche claimed first place in the men’s competition.

The event also celebrated important personal milestones, including Mothekgi Makgatho joining the prestigious Amabubesi class after completing his third Cape Epic, an achievement reserved for riders who embody perseverance and long-term commitment to the sport.
Beyond podium finishes, the race continues to reflect our long-standing belief that development is about creating meaningful opportunities, building confidence and helping people reach their full potential.

Why this matters: By investing in development platforms like the Cape Epic, Exxaro helps create opportunities that extend far beyond sport, empowering talent and opening pathways for long-term growth and achievement.
When opportunity meets determination, the results go far beyond the race itself.
