Young journalist mines robotics and future careers

When a young robotics enthusiast visited Exxaro, one conversation sparked new opportunities for the future.

Grade 3 learner and aspiring YouTuber Avuyile Rakgotho recently visited Exxaro's head office to interview Kenneth Kayser, Lead: Data and Intelligent Systems, one of Exxaro's robotics subject matter experts. Passionate about coding, robotics and helping other children discover future-focused careers, Avuyile wanted to understand how technology is transforming the mining industry.

For Kenneth, whose role focuses on exploring how robotics and automation can improve the way Exxaro operates, the visit was a reminder that innovation starts with curiosity. Their conversation explored how robotics can make mining safer, smarter and more efficient, while giving Avuyile a behind-the-scenes look at the technologies shaping the future of the industry. Through her growing online platform, she will now help share those insights with other young learners.

By opening our doors to curious young minds and encouraging them to ask questions, we help make careers in science, technology, engineering and innovation feel more accessible while inspiring the next generation of problem-solvers who will shape the future of mining.

Why this matters: Every future innovator starts by asking questions. Creating opportunities for young people to explore new technologies and meet industry experts helps inspire the curiosity that drives tomorrow's ideas.

Innovation starts with curiosity.”
