Thriving learners, thriving futures

In 2025, Exxaro deepened its commitment to education – one of the most powerful levers for long-term social and economic transformation and a key part of our SG&I Strategy. Across every region, our education-focused initiatives share a single purpose: to eliminate barriers, unlock potential and build strong, skilled, confident young leaders who will shape the industries of tomorrow. From early childhood development to digital access and career guidance, our programmes ensure young people have the resources, support and opportunities they need to grow into tomorrow’s engineers, leaders and innovators.

Expanding access at Nelsonskop Primary

Grootegeluk Mine handed over four new classrooms and a 1 000 capacity hall to Nelsonskop Primary, easing severe overcrowding caused by Lephalale’s rapid population growth. The investment, aligned to our SLP commitments, also includes WiFi rollout in 26 schools and support for 44 ECD centres, ensuring learners have the space, tools and digital access needed to succeed.

Restoring dignity through learner support

Through donations from employees, partners and unions, the initiative helped restore dignity and confidence, ensuring learners start the school year feeling supported and ready to learn.

Investing in academic excellence

Six top-performing Waterberg learners received bursaries to pursue further studies through Exxaro Grootegeluk’s community bursary programme.
