We kicked off Day 1 of the 2025 CEO Safety Summit<\/strong> with more than just conversations about safety – we began with a celebration of empowerment, entrepreneurship, and shared progress.<\/p>\n

As part of our pre – summit activities<\/strong>, we proudly hosted a vibrant Market Day<\/strong> showcasing Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) from Delmas<\/strong>, one of our host communities. These businesses are part of Exxaro\u2019s Enterprise and Supplier Development (ESD) programme<\/strong>, which supports local entrepreneurs with tools, funding, training, and market access to grow and thrive.<\/p>\n

From food vendors to creative makers and service providers, the Market Day wasn\u2019t just a display of products – it was a powerful demonstration of how Exxaro\u2019s impact extends beyond operations and into the heart of our communities.<\/p>\n

More than just a warm – up to the Safety Summit, the day reminded us that when we talk about safety and sustainability, we\u2019re also talking about people, prosperity, and purpose.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Together, we are Powering Possibility<\/strong> for our communities and proving that safety and social upliftment can \u2013 and must \u2013 go hand in hand.<\/p>\n

One Voice, One Exxaro \u2013 Reflecting on the 2025 CEO Safety Summit<\/p>\n

On 11 April 2025, over 2,000 Exxaro employees and stakeholders<\/strong> came together to reflect on our safety journey and officially launch our refreshed safety strategy: \u201cOne Voice \u2013 Safety Always, All the Way.\u201d<\/strong> This year\u2019s CEO Safety Summit<\/strong> was proudly hosted by the Leeuwpan Business Unit<\/strong>, whose long – standing safety legacy set the perfect tone for a summit grounded in care, leadership, and unity.<\/p>\n

The event brought together our leadership teams, business partners, unions, regulators (including the Department of Mineral and Petroleum Resources (DMPR) , and industry stakeholders – all aligned in our shared vision of Zero Harm. It was a powerful reminder that safety is not a slogan but a culture, shaped by our choices every day.<\/p>\n

“To all our employees, safety is important. We must always do things safely. Zero Harm is achievable, but it takes each of us to make it happen,”<\/strong> <\/em>said our Chief Safety Officer and CEO, Ben Magara.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“For me, safety is a state of mind, and working safely is a condition of employment. If it\u2019s not safe, do not ever do it \u2014 not in my name, not in yours too. There is always enough time to do things safely and meet our targets. Zero Harm is achievable, and all injuries are preventable. There is nothing small about any injury.”<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Honouring a legacy of safety excellence<\/p>\n

As a group, we celebrated 31 consecutive fatality-free months – a significant milestone achieved through consistent leadership, frontline ownership, and a culture that prioritises safety above all else.<\/p>\n
