Our Exxaro Mountain Bike Academy proudly represented us in two iconic cycling events: the FNB Wines2Whales Shiraz and the 947 Ride Joburg.

Wines2Whales: Driving Transformation Through Sport

The 16th edition of Wines2Whales, one of South Africa’s most celebrated three-day mountain bike stage races, our riders took on the challenging route from Lourensford to Onrus in the Western Cape. As the official Development Partner of Wines2Whales, Exxaro continues to champion transformation and inclusion in cycling through the Exxaro Jersey, a symbol of resilience, opportunity, and access for top-performing development riders from previously disadvantaged backgrounds.

Ziandro Jordaan of Fairtree DP World defended his 2024 title alongside Kwazikwenkosi Mbhamali, while our very own Tsholofelo Nkosi and Bontle Phepiso proudly brought the Exxaro Jersey home. Winners and runners-up also received cash prizes and study opportunities through Stadio and eta College, reinforcing our commitment to growth on and off the bike.

947 Ride Joburg: Pedalling for purpose

Meanwhile, in Johannesburg, our academy riders took on the Ride Joburg, a race that was more than just a test of endurance; it was a ride for hope. In partnership with Reach for a Dream, a proud charity partner of the event, our riders swapped their signature green jerseys for bold blue, pedalling to support children living with life-threatening illnesses. This powerful collaboration brought together sport and purpose, raising funds and creating unforgettable moments of joy for young dreamers across South Africa.

Hosted by the vibrant City of Johannesburg, the event gave cycling enthusiasts the rare opportunity to own the streets of Joburg, including the iconic M1 highway, in a celebration of energy and community spirit.
