Matla champions inclusion

through Albinism Awareness

Our Matla mine hosted an event on Tuesday, 20 August, under the theme ‘Different Looks, Equal Worth’ to promote understanding, celebrate diversity, and raise awareness about the challenges faced by people living with albinism. The event brought together stakeholders, community members, and advocates to drive dialogue and strengthen inclusion.

Our partnership with Vision for Change, a non-profit organisation (NPO) that provides visually impaired learners with equal opportunities by supplying spectacles, made it possible for 35 people living with albinism to receive eye tests, with follow-up eye care to be provided.

Conversations, personal stories, and educational insights shed light on the daily realities of those living with albinism, including challenges with vision, skin conditions, learning barriers, and discrimination.

This initiative reflects our commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DE&I) and our belief in building One Exxaro for All, a workplace and community culture where everyone is seen, supported, and valued for their unique strengths and contributions.
