Matla Coal hosted its annual BU Manager’s Recognition Awards on 30 May 2025, reflecting on a year of achievement and transformation. The event acknowledged exceptional performance across safety, academic growth, innovation, and production – including the successful, incident-free closure of the Shortwall.

Keynote speaker and General Manager, Mangaliso Sethethi, reflected on Matla’s journey since 2023 and its consistent progress. Opening remarks by Tamara Qwatekana and union support from NUM’s Commy Booysens highlighted the importance of teamwork and shared vision.

The event concluded with a tribute to Sethethi’s leadership – a key driver of Matla’s continued success.
