One Voice. One Exxaro.

Living Our Safety Strategy Together

In April, we launched the refreshed One Voice Safety Strategy at the CEO Safety Summit. It came with a clear message: we talk about safety in one voice, because we are One Exxaro.

But we didn’t stop there. Over the past five weeks, our teams across the business brought this strategy to life — not in theory, but in practice. Through real conversations, hands-on activities, and everyday actions, we moved from knowing the strategy to living it. One pillar. One discussion. One commitment at a time.

What we learned from 5 pillars in 5 weeks:

Week 1: We talk about safety in One Voice

We were reminded that safety starts with how we communicate. Toolbox Talks, Safety Shares, and group discussions helped us reflect on what safety means to us and how we speak about it — with consistency and care.

Week 2: I am a leader. Safety starts with me

We saw that safety leadership doesn’t belong to one person — it belongs to all of us. Whether it was speaking up, stepping in, or supporting a teammate, leadership was everywhere.

Week 3: No HIRA, No Work

We paused to reassess how we manage risks. HIRA was revisited across sites, and teams shared real examples of how risk assessment protects lives. No shortcuts. No assumptions.

Week 4: A zero-tolerance approach will save my life

We reinforced that safety is non-negotiable. We committed to the rules, the standards, and doing the right thing — always, even when no one is watching.

Week 5: Safety training is for life

We reminded ourselves that learning doesn’t stop. Through knowledge sharing, interactive sessions, and open discussions, we strengthened the confidence to keep learning — and to keep each other safe.

A message of thanks:

These five weeks weren’t just a campaign, they were a mental shift. They showed us that safety is not just something we talk about once a year, but something we practice every day.

So to every person who took part, led a session, asked a question, completed an activity or supported a colleague – thank you. You’ve helped bring our One Voice Safety Strategy to life. You’ve shown that Zero Harm is a goal we walk in together, step by step. And, above all, thank you for reminding us that safety, like progress, starts with people.

So let’s keep learning, keep leading and keep talking in One Voice – Safety Always, All the Way.
